The role
I joined a greenfield effort to replace the foundations of a mature early-childhood education product. The work combined a new cloud platform with the harder organizational problem of moving data, APIs, and teams away from a long-lived legacy system.

A closer look
Platform
Our team built a Go and GraphQL platform on AWS with PostgreSQL and Hasura. The goal was not a cosmetic rewrite; it was to create a foundation that could support the product’s next generation without losing the behavior and data accumulated in the previous one.
Migration
Legacy migrations are easy to describe as copies and difficult to operate as living systems. I led work on a change-aware migration design that could move data while the source product continued to evolve, using AWS migration tooling, database triggers, and explicit reconciliation paths.
Enablement
The move from REST to GraphQL required more than a schema. I worked with other teams on modeling and query patterns, and helped establish the observability, delivery, Helm, Argo CD, and Terraform practices needed to run the platform confidently.
